Veterans Day, originally known as “Armistice Day,” was first commemorated on November 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I.  Veterans Day honors our military veterans, the valiant men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Master Sergeant Tanya Whitney of the U.S. Army, an aircraft mechanic and maintenance supervisor on both helicopters and fixed winged aircraft, who served in the Middle East as part of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, presents the 100 year-old history of Veterans Day.

Come listen to the history of Veterans Day on Thursday, November 14 at 6:00 PM, at the Ascension Parish Library in Donaldsonville. Registration is required to attend this celebration of our heroes, and seats are sure to go quickly.  Call the library at 473-8052 to reserve your spot today!
