Are you ready for a Winter Reading Challenge? Ascension Parish Library joins hundreds of other schools and libraries across the United States as participants in this exciting event. We challenge you to keep a record of the books that you read during the month of January and track those books on our Beanstack page,, or on a print log which can be picked up at any Ascension Parish Library location. Share your progress on social media using #WinterRead2020!

Iconic publishing imprint Penguin Random House (PRH) is sponsoring this Beanstack Winter Reading Challenge in support of public libraries, school systems, and YOU achieving your reading goals! Top-performing libraries and schools will earn the Golden Penguin and Random House awards. PRH pledges to donate $50,000 in prizes, including author visits and new books, to be shared among the winners.

We will also hold Grand Prize Drawings on February 1 at all four of our Ascension Parish Library locations. Winners will be chosen for youth, teens, and adults!  Each book logged will earn you one chance in the drawing.  You can enter up to 31 times.

Prizes are as follows:
Youth (ages 0-12) - Household Membership Passes to the BREC Zoo, including an Annual Train Pass
