Our outreach services bring the library experience to patrons beyond our physical locations. We strive to promote equity, literacy, and community engagement by reaching people who may be unable to visit our other locations due to distance, disability, or other barriers. Our team delivers books, movies, and other materials to local retirement homes, assisted living facilities, parks, churches, and community centers. We also visit schools, daycares, and community events throughout the parish to ensure broad access to library resources and programming.
Want the outreach team to visit your event? Want the bookmobile to visit your event? Have a community event that you would like the library to attend? Want the library to do a storytime, booktalk, or STEM activity? Fill out the Outreach Request form. Our outreach librarian will contact you to discuss services and availability.
Need library materials delivered to your home? Fill out the Homebound Delivery Request form for more information, to register for the service, or to recommend a friend or family member for the service. You can also contact Stephanie Mayeux at (225) 647-8924 or outreach@myapl.org.
Homebound delivery is available to our patrons who are unable to leave the house due to medical reasons (e.g., illness, high risk for COVID-19, prescribed bed rest). We can provide delivery of both library items and craft kits via in-person delivery or post mail, depending on the patron’s condition and schedule. If continued homebound delivery is requested due to long-term disability, you may be required to provide a note from your medical provider.
